The mechanics are always the same. One pillow under the bump, a second between the knees, sometimes a third behind the back. The structure holds as long as you do not move. It does not come apart when you move
Both arms stay put when you turn over: you move from one to the other without repositioning anything.
That is the structural difference with a stack. A single pillow has nothing holding it: it follows your body and eventually falls away. The U is one continuous volume that keeps its geometry. Choosing it, and using it
How to settle in on the first night
Lay the pillow out flat as soon as it arrives: it ships vacuum-packed and takes a few hours to regain its volume. If you unpack it in the evening to sleep with it straight away, it will still be a little flat — no harm done, but less pleasant than on the second night.
Getting the position: lie on your side with the opening of the U pointing down. One arm goes under the bump, the other behind your back. Your upper knee folds onto the front arm, not beside it: that is what lines up your hips and takes the strain off your lower back. The curve of the U slides under your neck and replaces your head pillow — do not add one on top, or your neck will be pushed forward.
When you turn over, do not leave the pillow: pivot inside the U. The arm that was holding your back becomes the one holding your bump. That is the movement that takes two or three nights to become automatic, and it is the whole point of the shape.
After the birth, sit down and set the U around your waist, opening facing forward. The arm supports the forearm carrying your baby, at chest height. You are no longer holding that weight unsupported for the whole feed.
Care: the cover comes off by the zip and goes in the machine on a cold cycle. Air-dry it, no tumble dryer. The pillow itself does not need washing if the cover is washed regularly — just air it for a few hours now and then.

When should you start using a pregnancy pillow?
Most women start in the fourth or fifth month, when sleeping on your front stops being possible and the weight of the bump pulls on your back. Nothing stops you starting earlier — plenty use one from the first weeks simply to steady the hips.
How much room does it take in a double bed?

Does the cover come off for washing?
